Gallery Assistant
Part-Time (10+)
 Reports to: Gallery Manager


The Gallery Assistant will support the Gallery Manager with the day-to-day operations involved in the management of the Harlow. This position requires excellent customer service skills, attention to detail, and outstanding coordination.


Essential Duties/Responsibilities


  • Support Gallery Manager as needed in all areas of exhibition production

  • Assist Gallery Manager and/volunteers with installation of exhibitions

  • Answer phone + greet visitors and communicate information about current exhibitions, programs, opportunities, and craft shop work

  • Assist with receiving and tagging craft shop inventory and maintain craft shop displays

  • Processing gallery + craft shop sales through square

  • Assist with updating Harlow website and social media accounts

  • Assist with maintaining membership/donor data and updating Harlow’s CIVICRM database

  • Assist with updating e-newsletter database

  • Assist Gallery Manager with Harlow’s Volunteer Program, including correspondence, tracking of hours, solicitation, and processing acknowledgment letters.

  • On-site presence at openings and events as needed.

  • Assistance with distribution of event and project related promotional materials.

  • Assist with program and event enrollment tracking

  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.


Knowledge/Skills/Experience Requirements


  • Experience with customer service/retail

  • Ability to work Fridays and Saturdays during exhibitions – as well as some evenings (opening receptions and special events)

  • Ability to work independently with a strong attention to detail

  • Ability to work collaborate with a volunteer team and staff

  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously

  • Non-profit/art-related background preferred

  • Knowledge of Square, Google Drive, and Microsoft Office. Knowledge of Wix, Flodesk, and/or Canva a plus!

Physical Demands/Conditions/Requirements


Work is performed in a general office environment. Light lifting (up to 50 pounds) required. Full range of physical mobility including walking, sitting, standing, stooping, carrying, reaching and manual dexterity is required.
